Thursday, JULY 25

11:00 a.m. FIREFLIES Learn about ‘Luciferin” which allows these amazing creatures to glow and message each other. Make a glow message of your own (YPP). Meet naturalist in Windy Gap Schoolyard, or Old Pavilion if raining.

2:00 p.m. TURTLE TIME Learn about our three most common WV turtles and how to help them safely cross a road. (YPP) Color one to take home and make a promise. Old Pavilion

10:00 p.m. TRAVELING MOTH SHOW Meet Naturalist Jane at Campground #2 to shine a light, bringing dozens of moths for you to see!

Friday, JULY 26

1:00 p.m. NATURE CRAFT. ORB WEBS. Be a spider and weave an orb of your own. Meet in Old Pavilion.

4:00 p.m. ARCHERY Learn the basics of target shooting, long shots, how to hold a bow, take aim and load arrows. (YPP) Archery range across from office.

12:00 p.m. – 1:00 p.m. WAGON RIDES See our park the slow, old-fashioned way – in the back of a wagon pulled by a tractor. Sign up on office porch: 12:00 p.m., 12:30 p.m. and 1:00 p.m. rides available.

8:00 p.m. STAR LAB Join Jessica and Jane for an interactive Astronomy program at the Anderson Activities Center. The stars will be your guide. (YPP)

Sunday, JULY 28

11:00 a.m. HIKE SALT LICK TRAIL Learn several trees and wildflowers on this one hour trail with park naturalist Jane. (YPP) Meet on park office porch.

3:00 p.m. FRISBEE FREE FOR ALL Meet in Windy Gap Schoolyard for fun & games!

10:00 p.m. TRAVELING MOTH SHOW Meet Naturalist Jane at the cabin area to shine a light, bringing dozens of moths for you to see!

Young People for Parks (YPP)
YPP is an environmental education program for children ages 6-16. To complete the program, participants attend three specified activities during their stay. These programs are indicated on the weekly program by YPP. Participants complete “What I discovered’ information for the naturalist to review. A YPPer will receive a state park incentive for participating in three specified programs. All ages are welcome to attend activities. Activities are free to attend.
