Tuesday, June 18
Nature Center Open: 9:00 a.m. – 4:30 p.m.
10:30 a.m. Discovery Walk — So much to discover! Use the Young People’s Series Wildlife Guide & Checklist to find birds, mammals, reptiles & amphibians! (1 hour) YPP
1:00 p.m. WV Snakes — Learn the difference between venomous & non-venomous snakes!Color your own from Peterson’s Field Guide Coloring Book (1 hour) YPP
2:30 p.m. Stream Study — Discover what makes a stream healthy and what unlikely critters may be hiding in plain sight! Meet at Nature Center. You may want to bring shoes to get wet. (1 hour) YPP
3:30 p.m. Bug Bingo! — Enjoy this fun game with a picture & fun facts on every playing card! (30 minutes)
4:00 p.m. Eyewitness Reptiles — Enjoy a short film at the Nature Center. (30 minutes)
Wednesday, June 19
Nature Center Open 10:00 a.m. – 5:30 p.m.
10:30 a.m. WV Song Birds — Learn to identify common birds by sight & sound. Use the Young People’s Series Bird guide & checklist. Followed by a hike & craft (1 hour) YPP
1:30 p.m. WV Trees — Learn some common WV trees and using the Young People’s Series guide to Trees checklist. Let’s take a hike, then followed by a craft. (1.5 hours) YPP
3:30 p.m. Eyewitness Bird Video — Enjoy a short film. (30 minutes)
4:00 p.m. Bird Bingo — Enjoy this fun game while learning about a variety of birds with fun facts and pictures on every card! (30 minutes)
Thursday, June 20
Nature Center Open: 10:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m.
West Virginia Day!
11:00 a.m. West Virginia Hills — Sing our state song with pride! State Parks across WV will be joining in.
11:30 a.m. WV Tie-dye — Design your own Cacapon Resort State Park T-shirt with our iconic state colors of Blue & Gold. All youth & adult shirts $10.
1:30 p.m. WV Art Collage: Reflecting WV History — Free art class by local artist and volunteer. Class is limited, first come first served.
7:00 p.m. – 9:00 p.m. Dutch Oven Desserts — Enjoy some WV dessert favorites cooked over a Dutch oven at the campfire circle.
Friday, June 21
Nature Center Open: 9:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m.
10:00 a.m. Fishing 101 — Meet at the Nature Center, then head out to the lake! We will learn more about lake habitat. Fishing poles and bait will be available for the first five participants or bring your own! Adult participants require a fishing license. (1 hour) YPP
12:00 p.m. Cacapon Tie-Dye — Join us at the Nature Center for a fun afternoon of tie-dying! Make this a State Park tradition & take home your own park tie-dye T-shirt! (1 hour) YPP ***State Park T-shirts sold at Nature Center $10.00 will cover T-shirt & dye.
2:00 p.m. WV Trees — Learn about common WV trees on a short hike, followed by a craft. (1 hour) YPP
4:30 p.m. Meet and Greet Cacapon — Meet the Naturalist in the lounge of the lodge to answer any general park questions you may have or find out what amazing recreation and nature activities Cacapon has to offer. Welcome to Cacapon Resort State Park! (1 hour)
6:30 p.m. – 8:30 p.m. Beach Party/Evening Swim — Join us at Cacapon Lake to enjoy a special evening of swimming, music, & games! Admission for adults is $3, children $2 or add $1 to the daily admission price to stay all day!
7:00 p.m. Ham Radio Presentation — Join local volunteer Harry Wiess for a demonstration on short wave radio. Learn all about the history of short wave radio and how we rely on this type of communication when disaster strikes. Nature Center.
Saturday, June 22
Nature Center Open: 11:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m.
9:30 a.m. Ridge Trail Ramble — Meet at Nature Center to learn about park and take in the views on this trail. (Moderate. 1.15 hours)
12:00 p.m. Ham Radio Field Exercise — Local amateur radio operators will be communicating with other Ham radio stations across North America in their annual field day exercise. Blue Bird Shelter.
8:00 p.m. Cacapon Campfire — What a great way to spend your evening in the park! Meet at the campfire circle beside the Nature Center for a marshmallow roastin’ good time by the fire. You bring the marshmallows and we’ll provide the sticks. (1 hour)
Sunday, June 23
Nature Center Open: 9:00 a.m. – 4:30 p.m.
9:30 a.m. WV Morning Melodies — Meet at the Nature Center for a short hike. Let’s learn who is making all that noise! (1 hour) YPP
11:00 a.m. – 12:00 p.m. WV Furbearers — Join us at the Nature Center for this drop-in program. Experience with a variety of wildlife pelts. (1 hour) YPP
1:00 p.m. Berkeley Springs State Park Walking Tour — Meet at the Park Gazebo to join the park naturalist on a stroll through the park and surrounding areas. (45 minutes)

Young People for Parks
YPP is an environmental education program for children ages 6-16. To complete the program, participants attend three specified activities during their stay. These programs are indicated on the weekly program by the YPP logo. Participants will also complete the information on a special YPP brochure. After turning it in to the park’s naturalist, each participant will receive a state park incentive for participating in three specified programs. All ages are welcome!
