Craft of Day Collage Container Craft
Create imaginative collage-covered containers for storing pencils and pens between 11:00 a.m. and 3:00 p.m. Craft fee: $1.00
2:30 pm. Naturalist Loop
Meet the park naturalist, Paulita, in Blackwater Lodge Lobby for this walk along a section of three trails with short interpretive stops along the way. About 2 miles, 90 minutes. YPP
4:00 p.m. Habitat Journaling
Join the summer naturalist, Carly, to explore components in a habitat and how they change. Then create your own nature journal to enjoy keeping track of changes in the environment around you. About 1 hour. YPP
6:00 p.m. Ants on a Twig
Join the summer naturalist, Carly, to explore the ant world and play a game. Carly likes insects. We hope you do too. About 1 hour, little walking. YPP
8:00 p.m. Night Fun
Enjoy an evening with the park naturalists, Paulita and Carly, to explore the magic of the night, animals that are most active at night, perhaps explore the legend of Bigfoot and end with stargazing. About 1/2 mile, 2 hours. YPP
6:00 p.m. Wednesday, Community YOGA Class by pre-registration ONLY

Craft of Day Arrowhead Necklace
Create a necklace using cordage and a replica arrowhead between 10:00 a.m. and 12:00 p.m. Craft Fee $1.00
10:00 a.m. Leaf IQ
Join us and learn how to identify trees from leaves. We’ll be doing a leaf print at the conclusion of the program. About 1 hour. YPP
11:30 a.m. The Magnificent Monarch
Butterfly with the park naturalists, Paulita and Carly. Enjoy learning about our state butterfly, practicing some monarch monitoring activities and conclude with a butterfly craft. Craft fee: $2.00 About 1 hour. A Blackwater Falls “Monarch Scout” patch presented at conclusion for those that attend and participate in the class. YPP
Today the Nature Center Staff will be working on the self-selected pollinator plot near Harold Walters Nature Center as one of many entities assisting the Monarch Joint Venture Integrated Monarch Monitoring Program from 1:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. This is a citizen science study. Public welcome to assist. Please wear long pants as we’ll be working in the pollinator meadow recording findings, etc.
YPP– YOUNG PEOPLE FOR PARKS PROGRAM
Program listed as YPP is open to all ages but qualifies to meet the YPP requirements. To earn a certificate, you must be age 6-16 years., attend three Blackwater Falls State Park activities listed as YPP qualified, complete the ‘I discovered this . . . ‘ sheet and meet with us at the Nature Center for your recognition of accomplishment.
