The place to be for outdoor fun and nature is North Bend State Park. Activities on this Wednesday include:
9:00 a.m. A Home for Birds – Bird nesting season is almost over as baby birds have grown and left. Nests of many shapes and sizes will be left for us to see. Join us as we learn a little about nest building as you design a nest of your own with little eggs and all, to take home. We will meet at the Nature Center. (1 hour) YPP
11:00 a.m.–1:00 p.m. Nature Center Open – Come inside to enjoy arts and crafts and a chance to meet some of our wildlife friends. Take a look around and marvel at the mysteries of nature.
2:00 p.m. Do Trees Talk to Each Other – Trees can communicate with each other in so many amazing ways. Science has discovered that there is a “Wide Wood Web” where trees are connected and actually interact with each other in the forest. Join the park naturalist in exploring how trees talk and transfer information back and forth as you hike the Giant Tree Trail at North Bend. We will meet at Basecamp. (1 hour) YPP
4:00 p.m. Duct Tape Wallets – Need someplace to keep your loot? Come join your crafty cohorts and make yourself a duct tape wallet. A fun and simple craft for kids of all ages and all skill levels. Take a break from the heat and get crafty! We will meet in the Nature Center. (1 hour) YPP
6:00 p.m. Overlook Trail Hike – Take a hike to the overlook of the lake while learning about plants and wildlife along the way. The trail winds through a variety of habitats with great views and large sandstone outcrops in sections. Moderate terrain. We will meet at the trailhead, across from Cabin 8. (1.5 hours, 1.2 miles) YPP
