Winter Bird Count

Birdwatching is a lifelong pastime. Join naturalist Chris Bartley and fellow birding enthusiasts for a beginner-style bird identification and count. The day is devoted to getting ready for the Audubon Christmas Bird Count, the nation’s longest-running community science bird project. How to use field guides and binoculars and learning about habitat and food preferences that different species require is part of the workshop experience. Short hikes and observation are key components to the activities planned. The workshop and activities are free to attend.

The Watoga Winter Bird Count will have you ready to count birds and be counted via data entry wherever they may be on Christmas Bird Count days which are typically the last two weeks in December to the first Saturday in January.
