Thursday Activities

July 11, 2018 @ 9:01 pm

The place to be for outdoor fun and nature is North Bend State Park. Activities on this Thursday include:

11:30 a.m. – Insect Investigation – The insect population is one of the largest of all the animals on earth. Explore the small world of insects and their kin in a big way with the park naturalist. After learning about how to identify these small wonders, we will journey outside with nets in hand to capture a few and check them out in the magnifying glass. We will meet at the Nature Center. (1 hour) YPP

1:00 – 3:00 p.m.– Nature Center Open – Come inside to enjoy arts and crafts and a chance to meet some of our wildlife friends. Take a look around and marvel at the mysteries of nature.

3:30 p.m. – Fishing Derby – Bring your pole and we’ll supply the bait as you try your luck catching the Bluegill, Channel Catfish, and Bass that inhabit the River Run Pond. Anglers up to 14 years old are welcome to participate in this catch and release derby. We will meet at the pond by River Run Campground. (1 hour)

5:00 p.m. – 3 Mile Hike – Have you ever just wanted to take a hike? Really, just get outside, breath some fresh air, feel the trail under your feet, and just go. If so, this hike is for you. Join the park naturalist and get out on several trails throughout North Bend, creating a 3 mile loop. A great opportunity for anyone who wants to get out on the trails and just hike. We will meet at the Nature Center. (2 hours, 3 miles)
