Thursday Activities

The place to be for outdoor fun and nature is North Bend State Park. Activities on this Thursday include:

11:30 a.m.– 1:30 p.m.– Nature Center Open – Come inside to enjoy arts and crafts and a chance to meet some of our wildlife friends. Take a look around and marvel at the mysteries of nature.

2:00 p.m.– Creek Critters – Put on your water shoes and get ready to get wet as you dive into the small world of critters that inhabit our local creeks and streams. Collect and observe crayfish, insect larva, and other aquatic invertebrates in this interactive program. We will meet at the Nature Center. (1 hour) YPP

4:00 p.m.– Origami – Learn the Japanese art of folding paper to make fun and creative animals. Several projects will be available ranging in difficulty from easy to challenging. Make an animal to give to a friend or create a whole zoo for your room! All ages and skill levels are welcome. We will meet at the Nature Center. (1 hour)

5:30 p.m.– Nature Scavenger Hunt – Become a super sleuth as you hunt for items throughout the recreation area. Investigate unknown worlds of animals, plants, and insects to finish and discuss your finds! Clue sheets are available with item pictures or text. Great for all ages. We will meet at the Nature Center. (1 hour) YPP

Young People for Parks Program (YPP) s an Environmental Education Program for children 6 – 16. Children need to attend three YPP activities during their stay at North Bend. Children will receive a certificate and a prize.
