The place to be for outdoor fun and nature is North Bend State Park. Activities on this Thursday include:
11:00 a.m. Venom and Poison – Leaves of three, let it be. This is a great way to remember not to touch poison ivy, but what about all those other poisonous plants and venomous animals you may encounter while in the forests of North Bend? Learn all about what to avoid in the woods and how to identify those species that might make you sick or uncomfortable. This program is designed to educate and not intimidate, so there is nothing to be afraid of. We will meet in the Nature Center. (1 hour) YPP
1:00–3:00 p.m. Nature Center Open – Come inside to enjoy arts and crafts and a chance to meet some of our wildlife friends. Take a look around and marvel at the mysteries of nature.
4:00 p.m. You’ll Be Like Euell – The Euell Gibbons Trail was dedicated to the wild foods enthusiast because of the many walks he led, teaching visitors about the bounty that nature provides. Learn about wild edibles that are easily identified and collected as you hike this short, but historic trail. We will meet at the River Run Campground Check in Station. (1 hour, 0.5 miles) YPP
6:00 p.m. Origami – Learn the Japanese art of folding paper to make fun and creative animals. Several projects will be available ranging in difficulty from easy to challenging. Make an animal to give to a friend or create a whole zoo for your room! All ages and skill levels are welcome. We will meet at the Nature Center. (1 hour)
