Beech Fork State Park offers planned nature based activities as things to do when visiting the park. Unless indicated, activities are free to attend, open to all ages and the public. Join the fun.

When staying at Beech Fork, pick up an adventure pack are filled with fun activities at the park office between 9:00 a.m. ad 4:00 p.m.

West Virginia Scavenger Hunt
Meet at the boat dock to pick up your list of WV themed items to find throughout the park

4:00 p.m.
Wildflower Hour
Come to the boat dock to pick up guide on wildflowers you may find in the park and throughout West Virginia!

THURSDAY, August 12, 2021

Nature Scavenger Hunt
Meet at the boat dock to pick up your list of things to find in nature!

5:00 p..
Corn Hole
Head over to the boat dock for some fun games of corn hole! Come and go as you please. Games will be set up from 5 – 7 p.m.

Morning Stroll
Meet in front of the Camper’s Corner Store for a relaxing walk on the fitness trail loop. This is a one mile paved loop right through the metal tunnel.

Noon
Monarch Butterfly Craft
Come to the activities room for a fun craft on the Monarch Butterfly!

3:00 p.m.
Disc Golf
Learn how to play disc golf with the naturalist! Rent a disc golf set for $8.00 from the store and meet in front of the big chalkboard in the hallway.

9:00 p.m.
Stargazing: Perseid’s Meteor Shower
Bring a blanket or a chair and join us at the Day Use area near the swimming pool. We’ll be there around 9:00 p.m. to meet you and to watch for shooting stars, talk a little about constellations and learn about the Perseids. Bring binoculars if you have some, however you should see meteors light up the sky with just your eyes. They are called Perseids since the radiant (the area of the sky where the meteors seem to originate) is located near the prominent constellation of Perseus the hero when at maximum activity. Normal rates seen from rural locations range from 50-75 shower members per hour at maximum. The Perseids are particles released from comet 109P/Swift-Tuttle during its numerous returns to the inner solar system. The Perseids will peak on the Aug 11-12, 2021, night. Selfie Scavenger Hunt
Meet in front of the Camper’s Corner Store to pick up your list of things to take selfie’s with throughout the park!

4:00 p.m.
Nature Walk
Meet in front of the Camper’s Corner Store for a fun hike on the fitness trail! We will identify wildflowers, trees, and insects along the way!

6:00 p.m.
Furs of WV
Come to the activity room to observe the pelts of four animals native to West Virginia. They will be displayed from 6 PM – 7 PM.

8:30 p.m.
Night Hike
Join your naturalist in front of the camper’s corner store for a fun hike on the nature trail!

SUNDAY, August 15, 2021
2:00 p.m.
Nature Journaling
Meet your naturalist in the activities room to learn how to keep a nature journal! Paper and pencils will be provided to make your first entry. We will take a short walk outside.

4:00 p.m.
Tree ID
Meet in the activities room to learn about some common trees found in WV. You will learn their names, how to identify them, and where they are found!

5:00 p.m.
Rock Painting
Meet in the activities room to paint your own rock! Limit of one rock per person because of limited supplies. Bring your own rock!

7:00 p.m.
Disc Golf
Meet in front of the Camper’s Corner Store to play disc golf with the naturalist! Rent a set for $8.00 in the store or bring your own! All ages and experiences welcome!

Hikes and disc golf will be canceled if it rains or thunders. Children 15 and under must have an adult with them on hikes.
