The place to be for outdoor fun and nature is North Bend State Park. Activities on this Sunday include:
10:00 a.m.– 12:00 p.m. – Nature Center Open – Come inside to enjoy arts and crafts and a chance to meet some of our wildlife friends. Take a look around and marvel at the mysteries of nature.
1:00 p.m. – Tracks and Scat – Who’s been here, who’s been there? Find out by reading the clues our animal friends leave in the forest. Just because you can’t see them doesn’t mean they’re not around. Discover all the signs that the critters of North Bend leave behind. We will meet at the Nature Center. (1 hour) YPP
3:00 p.m. – Tunnel 13 Trail Hike – Experience the great outdoors with a spice of history mixed in. The trail is flat and easy to walk on, following an old railroad line leading to the North Bend Rail Trail and Tunnel 13. Learn about railroad and local history along with plants and wildlife throughout the hike. We will meet at the Nature Center. (1 – 1.5 hours, 1.5 miles) YPP
5:00 p.m. – Irish Road Bowling Competition – You don’t have to be Irish or a bowler to play this sport! Learn the game that is taking state parks across West Virginia by storm. Winners will have their team name emblazoned on the famous Irish Road Bowling trophy for the 2018 season! A simple game that is lots of fun. We will meet at the Cokeley Recreation Area Bathhouse. (1 hour) YPP
Young People for Parks Program (YPP) is an Environmental Education Program for children 6 – 16. Children need to attend three YPP activities during their stay at North Bend. Children will receive a certificate and a prize.
