Find out how much when you come participate in this educational program about the famous amphibians and their fascinating adaptations. We’ll check out the River Run Campground Pond for local residents and maybe catch a few to get an up close look. We will meet at the Nature Center.(1 hour) YPP

3:00 p.m. Insect Investigation – The insect population is one of the largest of all the animals on earth. Explore the small world of insects and their kin in a big way with the park naturalist. After learning about how to identify these small wonders, we will journey outside with nets in hand to capture a few and check them out in the magnifying glass. We will meet at the Nature Center. 5:00 p.m. Giant Pine Trail Hike – Meet the park naturalist for a hike through some of the biggest and oldest white pine trees on the park. Forests are always in transition and as you journey along the trail you’ll see smaller hardwoods in the understory and opportunities to see wildlife who call this forest home, including small mammals, white tailed deer, and birds. This is a short loop trail and is perfect for anyone wanting to stretch their legs and get moving outside. Meet in the Lobby of the North Bend Lodge. (0.6 miles, 1 hour) YPP
