Sue’s Moth Party
Watoga recognizes National Moth Week with a Moth Party on Saturday, July 25, with biologist Sue Olcott with WVDNR.
If you’ve ever wanted to know “What moth is that,” this is the evening program for you. Join Sue Olcott at the Watoga Lake Dock. There will be a moth station set up to see what moths are at Watoga State Park. Bring your camera or smart phone for a closeup. We’ll share apps that can help you identify the insects, as well as printed resources.
Moths range from micro moths to Luna Moths and larger. Moths, butterflies and skippers are all insects in the order Lepidoptera, which means scaled wings.
National Moth Week is July 18-25, 2020. Many state parks and other organizations across the nation include programs and activities about moths, facts and fiction during this week.
