SUMMARY:Starry Saturday Night - Perseids Meteor Shower: Chief Logan
DESCRIPTION:The Perseids Meteor Show is the best meteor shower of the year according to NASA. \nMeet Naturalist Lauren Cole at Chief Logan Lodge at the outdoor fire pit area on August 26\, 2023. Lauren will be there from 9:00 – 11:00 pm. Look through a computerized telescope at various celestial bodies including the moon\, planets\, galaxies\, and more. Learn seasonal constellations and other cool facts about the night sky. Planets Mars andSaturn may be visible. The moon is a Waxing Gibbous moon at 72% illumination. Moon pies are available as snacks. \nAbout the PerseidsAccording to NASA\, the Perseid meteor shower peaks in mid-August\, and is considered the best meteor shower of the year.The meteor count is approximately 50-100 meteors per hour and a velocity of 37 (59 km) per second.
