SUMMARY:Starry Saturday Night - Delta Aquarids Meteor Shower: Chief Logan
DESCRIPTION:Meet Naturalist Lauren Cole at Chief Logan Lodge at the outdoor fire pit area on July 29\, 2023. Lauren will be there from 9:00 – 11:00pm Look through a computerized telescope at various celestial bodies including the moon\, planets\, galaxies\, and more. Learn seasonal constellations and other cool facts about the night sky. Planets Mars\,Mercury\, and Saturn may be visible. The moon is a Waxing Gibbous moon at 88% illumination. Moon pies are available as snacks. \nAbout Delta AquaridsAccording to NASA\, the Southern Delta Aquariids are active beginning in mid-July and are visible until late August with the peak on July 29-31. The meteor count is approximately 20 meteors per hour and a velocity of 25 (41 km) per second. Social distancing is encouraged. The program can require patience that may be difficult for younger children. Dress for the weather\, it could be chilly. Rain will cancel this program.
