Shirley Schweizer Winter Walk

Winter ecology walks were a joy for Shirley Schweizer. This winter walk is an invitation to be outdoors when nature seems to be resting.

This year’s Shirley Schweizer Winter Walk will be led by biologist Doug Wood, who will share a preview of the Davis Creek Restoration Project. Meet in front of the park headquarters at Camp Kanawha (former pool complex). Come to this informative walk to learn about plans to restore the flow of Davis Creek and improve fishing opportunities.

This winter walk is also a “soup hike.” You’re welcome to bring a pot of your favorite chili/stew/soup to share after the walk. If you intend to bring something, please call the forest office at 304-558-3500 so preparations can be made for slow cooker staging, supplies, etc. As with any hike, please wear sturdy shoes and weather-appropriate clothing.
