Saturday Activities at Pipestem

In addition to other outdoor recreation (golf, disc golf, fishing, etc.) at Pipestem, enjoy and attend these activities on Saturday:
Bluestone River Walk begins at 10:00 a.m. Ride the tram down to meet a National Park Ranger on the patio of Mountain Creek Lodge for an interpretive hike along the Bluestone River. Please allow 10-15 minutes for your tram ride down. Participants will receive a coupon for a special tram ticket price. Allow 1 – 1 ½ hours for this activity.
Nature Hunt begins at 2:00 p.m. at Pipestem Nature Center for a nature scavenger hunt. The naturalist will hand out a list of things to find outside around the nature center. A prize will be given for finding them all.
Tie-dye time!- Stop by the Canyon Rim Center gift shop to purchase a white t-shirt with the Pipestem logo. Then bring your t-shirt to the Nature Center at 3:00 p.m. to tie-dye it. T-shirt sizes XS – XL will be $8.00, t-shirt sizes 2XL & 3XL will be $10.00. Any age welcomed to this art/craft. Make a memory to take home.
Critter Crawl starts at 4:00 p.m. at the Nature Center for a walk to look for bugs, salamanders, toads, or whatever little critters we might find! (1 hour)
Jordan’s Chapel is a driving tour that begins at 5:00 p.m. Meet in the lobby of McKeever Lodge for a short drive in your own vehicle to this nearby historic chapel that was the first frame church built in the area. Great photo opportunity so bring your camera!
Stars: Stories of the Sky meets at Nature Center at 6:00 p.m. to learn some of the history, legends, and myths that make up the constellations. While there we’ll make constellation cards with the shape, story and way of finding the constellation in the night sky. Excellent for families and individuals of any age.
Corey Lee and Garry- Acoustic Country Blues and American Music Concert is at 8:00 p.m. It’s an awesome night of country music at the Pipestem amphitheater! Corey Lee McQuade (guitar/dobro) and Garry Segal (harmonica) will treat us to acoustic country blues, country, folk and bluegrass in the styles of Sonny Terry and Brownie McGhee, Doc Watson, The Delmore Brothers, Mississippi John Hurt, Jesse Fuller, Guy Clark, John Hartford, Tut Taylor, Blind Alfred Reed and Johnny Cash. Show starts at 8:00 pm. Tickets are $8 for adults and $4 for kids 6-12. Children 5 and younger attend for free.
Stargazing. Let’s look up at 9:00 p.m. at the campground to the night sky! If the weather cooperates with clear skies, we will be setting up the telescope to see what we can see.
The Pipestem Nature Center is open from 12:30 until 4:30 p.m.
