The place to be for outdoor fun and nature is North Bend State Park. Activities on this Saturday include:

9:30 a.m. – Creek Critters – Put on your water shoes and get ready to get wet as you dive into the small world of critters that inhabit our local creeks and streams. Collect and observe crayfish, insect larva, and other aquatic invertebrates in this interactive program. We will meet at the Nature Center. (1 hour) YPP

11:00 a.m. – 1:00 p.m. – Nature Center Open – Come inside to enjoy arts and crafts and a chance to meet some of our wildlife friends. Take a look around and marvel at the mysteries of nature.

2:00 p.m. – Scavenger Hunt – Become a super sleuth as you hunt for items throughout the recreation area. Investigate unknown worlds of animals, plants, and insects to finish and discuss your finds! Clue sheets are available with item pictures or text. Great for all ages. We will meet at the Nature Center. (1 hour) YPP

3:30 p.m.– You’ll Be Like Euell – The Euell Gibbons Trail was dedicated to the wild foods enthusiast because of the many walks he led, teaching visitors about the bounty that nature provides. Learn about wild edibles that are easily identified and collected as you hike this short but historic trail. We will meet at the River Run Campground Check in Station. (1 hour, 0.5 miles) YPP

5:00 p.m. – Tie Dye* – Learn how to tie dye your very own North Bend t-shirt! Shirts will be available to purchase and dye during this activity for $8.00 per shirt. All youth and adult sizes will be available. This makes for a great souvenir of your time at North Bend and a fun way to show your support of West Virginia State Parks. A variety of patterns and dyes will be available, so you can create your one of a kind shirt! We will meet in the Nature Center. (1.5 hours)

7:00 p.m. – Rock and Roll Musician – Tom Roddey – Tom has a captivating vocal presence and has been impressing audiences now for over twenty years. His style is true to the original artists, with a fresh presentation in rockabilly, classic rock, country, Americana, easy listening, contemporary, folk, children’s, blues, gospel, and original works. A Parkersburg local, Tom has performed throughout the Mid-Ohio Valley. Tom will perform at the Amphitheater. (1 – 1.5 hours)
