Pipestem Resort State Park sits on the east rim of the Bluestone River Gorge, which carves through the plateau to the scenic Bluestone River 1,200 feet below. Visit us at the Nature Center which is open Friday through Sunday 11:00 a.m. – 6:00 p.m.

10:00 a.m. Crosscut saw and Sawbuck Demonstration
If you cut your own firewood, or just want to see how it was done before chainsaws, come to the Nature Center and meet Linwood to get ideas for your own sawbuck and see how the two-person crosscut saw operates. YPP
12:00 p.m. Camp Stoves and Cooking Options
Meet Linwood at the Nature Center and learn about the variety of backpacking and camp cooking stoves and other cooking methods with a variety of fuels and circumstances. YPP
5:00 p.m. Some Tips and History on Archery
Meet with Linwood at the campground archery target range. Information for beginners with tips and history for those who have already learned the basics. YPP

11:00 a.m. Moth Craft
Meet Natalie at the picnic tables by the Nature Center to create a moth craft.
2:00 p.m. The Mighty Chestnut Tree, Eyewitness Recollections
Meet Lynn at the Nature Center and listen to the written accounts of eye witnesses as they recall what it was like living when the American Chestnut was the primary source of timber and lumber in the Appalachians. See Chestnut seedlings that were bred to resist the blight. YPP
4:00 p.m. The Great Pretenders
Meet Lynn at the Nature Center to learn the different ways creatures use camouflage and mimicry in the natural world to avoid detection or keep predators away. YPP

Meet Julie at the Nature Center. She will post a list of objects outside to look for in Nature. (1/2 – 1 hour) YPP
7:00 p.m. Mammals of Pipestem
Meet Julie at the picnic shelter by Park Headquarters to learn about seven different mammals you may encounter at Pipestem and see their pelts. (1/2 – 1 hour) YPP
