During the French and Indian War, Ostenaco was a leader of Cherokee warriors who allied with Virginia military leaders against northern tribes fighting with the French. Ostenaco’s influence contributed significantly to the expansion of English-speaking people into Western Virginia. Portrayed by Doug Wood of Hurricane, WV, at Pipestem Resort State Park amphitheater. Start time is 8:00 p.m. Program lasts about one hour. Family-friendly. Questions and conversation. Open to the public at no cost.
Ostenaco presentation is a History Alive! program made possible by the West Virginia Humanities Council and West Virginia State Park system.
