Nature-based Activities at Cacapon Resort

Take advantage of nature-based programs and activities at Cacapon Resort State Park. We invite you to join us. All programs and hikes begin at the Nature Center, unless otherwise noted. The nature center is open from 9:15 a.m. until 4:45 p.m. unless posted otherwise.

Saturday, July 10, 2021

10:00 a.m. Morning on the Mountain
Meet at Cacapon Mountain Overlook observation deck, 5 miles past nature center, to take in the one of the highest elevations here in the eastern panhandle of WV, near 2,300 ft. Join for a park orientation.

11:00 a.m. Wildlife Molds
Enjoy a hands-on learning experience on a variety of wildlife pelts followed by a make and take craft!

2:00 p.m. Stream Study
Discover what makes a stream healthy and what unlikely critters may be hiding in plain sight! Meet at Nature Center. You may want to bring shoes to get wet. (1 hour) YPP

3:30 p.m. Awesome O’possum
Learn some fun facts about the O’possum followed by a craft. YPP

7:30 p.m. – 9:00 p.m. Cacapon Trivia Night!
Join us on the outside patio of the newly opened North Lodge. Fun trivia & prizes for all ages!

9:30 a.m. West Virginia Morning Melodies
Join us for a beginner birding hike. Binoculars provided.

1:00 p.m. Park Orientation & History
Join the park naturalist at Berkeley Springs State Park in the picnic area near the warm springs. Drop by anytime from 1:00 p.m. – 2:00 p.m. to look at pictures of park through the years.

2:30 p.m. Power of Pollinators
Join the summer naturalist to learn the importance of pollinators and try to find some! YPP

YPP – Young People for Parks
YPP is an environmental education program for children ages 6-16. To complete the program, participants attend three specified activities during their stay. These programs are indicated on the weekly program by the YPP logo. Participants will also complete the information on a special YPP brochure. After turning it in to the park’s naturalist, each participant will receive a state park incentive for participating in three specified programs. All ages are welcome!
