2:30 p.m. Camp Stoves and Cooking Options
Meet Linwood at the Nature Center and learn about the variety of backpacking and camp cooking stoves and other cooking methods with a variety of fuels and circumstances. YPP
3:00 p.m. Avoiding Animal Conflicts
Meet Lynn at the Nature Center to learn how to avoid undesired animal encounters. We will learn how to avoid harmful creatures and avoid harming creatures and what you can do if they get unruly. YPP
5:00 p.m. Turtle Time
Meet Lynn at the Nature Center to learn about turtles and how to protect them. Afterwards, meet with Natalie to play a fun turtle game. YPP

10:00 a.m. Split a Log with a Hammer and Wedge
Meet with Linwood to learn to split a log, just like the pioneers. Skill and patience win out over swinging a maul or burning gasoline. Participation is welcome, at the Nature Center beside the Sawbuck.
11:00 p.m. The Mighty Chestnut Tree, Eyewitness Recollections
Meet Lynn at the Nature Center and listen to the written accounts of eye witnesses as they recall what it was like living when the American Chestnut was the primary source of timber and lumber in the Appalachians. See Chestnut seedlings that were bred to resist the blight.
2:00 p.m. Cryptids of WV
Meet with Linwood at the Nature Center for stories of creatures and animals, out of place in West Virginia. From the natural, to the not so natural, stories, sightings, and historic records.
3:30 p.m. Nature Journaling
Meet Lynn outside the Nature Center for an introduction to nature journaling; what it is, and how to do it. A blank unlined journal or sketchpad, and a pencil are required for this activity. If you don’t have these materials, a starter journal and artist’s pencil can be purchased at the Pipestem Camp Store for $8.00. Ages 12 through adult are welcome. YPP
5:30 p.m. Some Tips and History on Archery
Meet with Linwood at the camp archery target range. Information for beginners with tips and history for those who have already learned the basics.

9:00 p.m. Light Up West Virginia- A Citizen Science Survey of Lightning Bugs
Meet Julie at the Nature Center to look for our flashing friends. Data collected will be submitted to the WVDNR, whose biologists hope to learn more about the scope of the insect’s decline in the state. YPP

11:00 a.m. The Great Migration Challenge Game
Come by the Nature Center to learn about the challenges birds face while migrating. Then we’ll play a fun game where you get to be the bird! (30-45 minutes) YPP
4:00 p.m. Sidewalk Obstacle Course
This obstacle course is made using chalk. It will be an exciting activity to see who can complete this course the fastest and win a prize.
7:30 p.m. Mammals of Pipestem
Meet Julie at the Nature Center to learn about six different mammals you may encounter at Pipestem. (1/2 – 1 hour) YPP
