National Trails Day Hike at Beech Fork
June 5, 2021
A guided hike for National Trails Day at Beech Fork State Park sets foot at 5:00 p.m. We’ll be hiking the Overlook Trail with Park Naturalist Emma Yeager. National Trails Day is a “hiking holiday” observed on the first Saturday in June. The activity reminds participants of the natural resources and history preserved at Beech Fork State Park and the area.
The Overlook Trail winds up a long ridge to a pleasing overlook of the park headquarters and recreation area. The trail is of medium difficulty with a steep incline at the trail head. The total distance is about 2 miles. We’ll pace ourselves so everyone hiking can enjoy the exercise, as well as the views and flower and animals that may be along the trail.
The activity is open to the public and free to attend. A Trails Day patch is presented to individuals completing the hike.
