National Trails Day Hike

The National Trail Day Hikes at Cacapon Resort State Park will feature multiple hiking options.

Earn a West Virginia State Park Trails Day patch by joining the park naturalist or park volunteers for one of three trail hiking options – Laurel, Central, and Ziler Loop trails. Meet at the Nature Center at 10:00 a.m. to get organized and get started.

Laurel Trail
Join Park Naturalist, Valerie Chaney, on a 2-mile easy to moderate hike and take in the views.

Central Trail
Join WV Master Naturalist, Clark Dixon, on a moderate 3-mile hike on parts of the Tower, Piney Ridge, and around the upper reservoir.

Ziler Loop Trail
Join WV Master Naturalist, Tim Hull, as he guides you on a 5-mile strenuous hike on portions of the Ziler Loop to the top of Cacapon Mountain. This trek takes around 4 hours, so bring plenty of water, snacks, bug spray…

We’ll observe proper distances and continue to observe practicing “safe” as we enjoy the outdoors.

American Hiking Society’s National Trails Day® (NTD) is a celebration of America’s magnificent Trail System, occurring annually on the first Saturday in June.
