National Trails Day Hike
Take a hike on National Trails Day at Tygart Lake State Park. This 2:00 p.m. hike is led by Jacob Jackson, naturalist/interpreter. “We’ll be taking the Dam Trail that is about 3/4 mile in length and should be a good and fairly breezy afternoon hike.” Jackson’s spring trail maintenance that created waterbars and ditching the new tread improves the outdoor experience.
Sturdy hiking boots or hiking shoes are suggested. The National Trails Day Hike begins from Tygart Lake Lodge. A trails day hiking commemorative patch is presented at the conclusion of the guided hike to each hiker.
Hikers will be encouraged to “take a hike” on their own in addition to joining Jackson on the Dam Trail Hike. Posting images of hiking at Tygart Lake on social media is encouraged. Use #wvstateparks #tygartlake #nationaltrailsday
