Moth Week and Sunday Activities

Enjoy Sunday interpretative programs with family/friends at Holly River State Park. Unless indicated, activities begin at the Activities Building.
11:00 a.m.: BATS – WHERE DID THEY GO? Learn which WV bats are endangered and how the white nose syndrome (a fungus called pseudogymnoascus destructans) is decimating several hibernating bat species in 33 states. (YPP) Meet at the Balli Pavilion.
2:00 p.m.: NATURE CRAFT: Color a butterfly and a moth and learn what makes them different. (YPP) Join us outside Windy Gap Schoolhouse.
9:00 p.m. – Midnight: MOTH ROUND-UP & SING-ALONG. Park Naturalist Jane will hang an illuminated white sheet in Campground #4 to attract and identify moths of Holly River State Park. While waiting for them to land, she will take song requests around a campfire there. (YPP)
