The place to be for outdoor fun and nature is North Bend State Park. Activities on this Monday include:
11:00 a.m. – 1:00 p.m. Nature Center Open – Come inside to enjoy arts and crafts and a chance to meet some of our wildlife friends. Take a look around and marvel at the mysteries of nature.
2:00 p.m. Orienteering – For centuries, compasses were used to find the right path. Sailors, explorers, and adventurers all use them to point them back home. If you want to learn how to use one too, come to this interesting program. The next time you venture into the woods, you can be sure to know how to get back to camp. We will meet at the Nature Center. (1 hour) YPP
5:00 p.m. Nature Scavenger Hunt – Become a super sleuth as you hunt for items throughout the recreation area. Investigate unknown worlds of animals, plants, and insects to finish and discuss your finds! Clue sheets are available with item pictures or text. Great for all ages. We will meet at the Nature Center. (1 hour) YPP
6:00 p.m. Hibbs Cemetery Trail Hike – The Hibbs Family lived centuries before North Bend came into existence but left behind a small family cemetery. Although it may be easily overlooked, legend has it that the remains were never moved. Take a look for yourself with the park naturalist as you learn about some of the local plants and wildlife along the way. We will meet at the River Run Campground Check in Station. (1 hour, 1 mile) YPP
