MLK Celebration at North Bend

“Reverend Martin Luther King, A Leader for All Times” is a program at North Bend State Park to celebrate Martin Luther King Day. Join WV NAACP president Owens Brown for his presentation on past issues of race and civil rights in America and the present day challenges of race relations in America. The program is open to the public at no charge and begins at 4:00 p.m.

Mr. Brown is the current president of the WV NAACP and has been an active member in the Wheeling chapter of the organization for over 30 years. He has served as a board member for several groups including Clergy and Laity Concern, Wheeling Homeless Shelter, New Neighborhoods Inc., Ohio Valley Peace Group, the Upper Ohio Valley United Way, and the Northern Panhandle Utility Reform Group (an affiliate of the WV Citizen Action Group). He was also a member of Free South Africa and was selected as a Special Delegate to the United Nations in 1983 to review the North American Strategy Against Apartheid. Mr. Brown’s education includes a M.A. in Agency Counseling, West Virginia University; a B.A. in Psychology, West Liberty State College; and Associate Degree in Electro/Mechanical Engineering, Belmont Technical College.
