Friday, May 24, 2019
3:00 p.m. – 5:00 p.m. History Hike*
Watoga has a long, storied and rich history, even before officially opening to the public over 80 years ago. Join us by the boat dock, near the Park Headquarters building, as we walk the 1.5 mile loop around the lake. Please wear closed toe shoes and bring something to drink. (YPP)
7:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m. Footprints in Nature*
Have you ever seen an animal track and wondered what it was? Make your way towards the Nature Center to learn about those tracks, and create one made of plaster to take home with you. (YPP)
9:00 p.m. – 10:00 p.m. Owl Prowl*
Meet us at the Picnic Shelter area, as we go on a short walk looking and listening for owls. We will be using different calls for each of the different species of owls in the area to attempt to be sure these birds of prey to come in. Be sure to wear closed toe shoes. Flashlights are allowed, however, we ask that they are used minimally. (YPP)
Saturday, May 25, 2019
1:00 p.m. – 4:00 p.m. Tie Dye T-Shirts
Join us any time between 1:00 p.m. and 4:00 p.m., and have some fun with art by making a keepsake or gift to remind you of your time here with a Watoga State Park Tie Dye T-Shirt. We have onesies, ladies t-shirts, children’s t-shirts, and adult t-shirts ranging from Youth Small – Adult 3XL. Please purchase your item(s) in the main office, and bring them with you to the Swimming Pool area, near the picnic tables. (YPP)
7:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m. Campfire Cookery*
Everyone is welcome to join us for an evening of fun and fellowship at Riverside Campground behind the check-in station. Bring a lawn chair or a blanket to sit on as we cook up some dessert in a Dutch oven over a campfire. All ages are welcome and will be able to sample our blueberry-lemon cobbler. (YPP)
9:00 p.m. – 10:00 p.m. Glow Walk*
What better way to end the evening than with a Night Hike, but rather than flashlights, we will be walking to the light of glow sticks! Bring your glow sticks, and join us by the check-in station at Riverside Campground to help us light up the sky as we take a short walk along the Campground. Be sure to wear closed toe shoes.
Sunday, May 26, 2019
3:00 p.m. – 5:00 p.m. Corn Hole Games*
Bring your friends, family, and anyone else you would like to have play corn hole by the swimming pool area. There is no entry fee, just lots of fun to be had by everyone.
7:00 p.m. – 8:30 p.m. Float Your Boat
Cap the evening off with a peaceful and relaxing evening on the lake as we learn about nocturnal animals, park history, and anything else you would like to talk about. You can choose to take a paddleboat or kayak, depending on availability, or bring your own watercraft. Sign up and purchase a ticket in the main office for $5 per boat. (YPP)
Activities are conducted by Park Naturalist Chris Bartley. Other things to do at Watoga include Laser Tag, Disc Golf, outdoor swimming pool, kayak and canoe rentals, fishing in Watoga Lake, and hiking the many trails. Enjoy Watoga this Memorial Day Weekend.
