See Blennerhassett Island like you have never seen before. Firebaskets and lanterns light the paths to the Blennerhassett mansion and other activities on the island for Mansion by Candlelight. Two autumn evenings, October 8 (Friday) and October 9 ( Saturday), 2021.
Once a year Blennerhassett Island is transformed into an island paradise where Margaret and Harman Blennerhassett have gathered all their friends for an 18th century-style party. Harman Blennerhassett, a wealthy Irish aristocrat settled on the wilderness island in 1798 with his lovely wife, Margaret and completed construction of their magnificent mansion in 1800. Their island and home will be bustling with entertainment to delight you.
When you arrive, it is a back in time experience attending at a magical evening filled with music, food, and entertainment. Tour the island by horse-drawn wagon and step into the Blennerhassett’s mansion, aglow with candlelight, as guests in period attire attend an 18th Century party.
Candlelight festivities include sternwheeler ride, meeting historical actors portraying Harman and Margaret, interact with costumed reenactors, and music by the Athens Recorder Consort, hammered dulcimer, and other stringed instruments of the time. Card games, strolling minstrels and candle lighted pathways to the servant’s party, harvest supper, gift shop and other planned activities.
Tickets include sternwheeler ride, mansion tour, and wagon ride as well as planned activities for the festive evening. Supper is an additional $16. Boat departures begin at 6:00 PM from Civitan Park in Belpre, Ohio. Admission is $35 for adults and $25 for children.
