Nasty Nature – Living Slime!
Learn about the living slime that can be found throughout West Virginia’s forests. Then, walk away with homemade slime of your own! Meet us at the Main Office. YPP
Be Bear Aware!
Stop by the Beaver Creek Playground to learn about West Virginia’s black bears. Learn how to enjoy seeing and recreate safely in bear country. YPP
Stories and S’mores
Come to Riverside Campground Check-in to hear and share various camp stories. From ghosts to history, this event is fun for all ages. We will provide the sticks and fire, you provide the s’more ingredients. Please feel free to share your stories as well, as long as they are family friendly.

Follow the Footprints
Come to the main park office to learn about the tracks left behind by various West Virginia wildlife. Walk away with plaster casts of your own! YPP
Learn about the various turtle species that we can find in Watoga! Then, make a turtle craft of your own! Find us at Beaver Creek Playground.YPP
Watoga Wildlife: All About Bats!
We can learn about these furry fliers in the daytime too! Learn about the important role that bats have in the environment and make your own bat glider! We’ll be at Riverside Check-in. Join us. YPP
Meet at the boat dock for an hour to hour and a half hike from the boat dock to the pool and back. During this hike we will learn about how our senses and other animals adapt to the night time. We will be focusing on using our natural night vision as we travel, so artificial light will be limited. Please feel free to bring red lights or headlights for the hike back to the parking lot. YPP
SUNDAY, September 5, 2021
Stop by the Watoga boat dock to learn about the critters that live in our creeks and why it is important to study them. Be prepared to get wet as we go to find the mysterious creatures. YPP
Watoga Wildlife: Flying Squirrels
Glide over to Beaver Creek Campground to learn about another nocturnal mammal: the flying squirrel. Learn about the rare species of flying squirrel found in the area and make your own long distance glider. We’d like to see you at Beaver Creek Campground for this program. YPP
Stop by Riverside Check-in to enjoy some campfire cooking. Relax around the campfire as you enjoy campfire recipes.
Programs and activities offered are at no fee and open to the public.
Don’t forget Watoga Art in the Park
September 4-5, 2021
Watoga is also host to Art in the Park in the Picnic Area. Feel free to stop by and enjoy the works of local artists and learn how they practice their craft. The event will run from approximately 10:00 am-5:00 pm on Saturday and approximately 10:00 am-3:00 pm on Sunday.
