Labor Day Sunday Activities
September 1, 2018 @ 9:01 pm
In addition to other outdoor recreation (golf, disc golf, fishing, etc.) at Pipestem, enjoy and attend these activities on Sunday:
8:30 a.m. Sunday Service – Join us at the Amphitheater for Sunday service. This is an outdoor service so dress for the weather. In the event of rain, service will be held on the amphitheater stage. (1 hour)
10:00 a.m. 10 mile Bluestone Turnpike Hike – Ride the tram down to meet on the patio of Mountain Creek Lodge for this 10 mile hike from Pipestem to Bluestone State Park. Please allow 10-15 minutes for your tram ride down. Bring good shoes, a light lunch (sandwiches and such), and plenty of water. A shuttle will return hikers to Pipestem around 2-3 p.m. (4 – 5 hours)
10:30 a.m. Lake Dip – Meet Dakota in the Arboretum parking lot (across from McKeever Lodge). We will walk to the lake to take a dip, with a net, to see what kind of critters we can find living in the lake. (1 ½ hours) YPP
2:30 p.m. Mini Golf Tournament – Come to the miniature golf course at the Recreation Building and meet Jessie for a mini golf tournament. It’s the Pipestem PGA (pretty good activity) with no real golf skill necessary. Best score wins a prize. (1 ½ hours).
3:00 p.m. Three Rivers Avian Center is part of Pipestem’s Sundays at 3 Series programs. Get an up-close look at owls, hawks and eagles at this Birds of Prey Education Program, featuring live birds native to West Virginia! Learn more about habitats, diet and behavior of some of the Mountain State’s most recognized birds, as well as most common causes of injury to birds and the laws protecting our avian friends. Event is free and open to the public. Starts at 3 p.m. in the Hudkins Conference Center at the McKeever Lodge.
Before you attend Wings of Wonder Program, you may want to enjoy Pipestem’s Sunday buffet! It’s a very nice buffet with wondrous views of the Bluestone Gorge.
5:00 p.m. Mini Disc Golf Fun – Meet Jessie at the campground store to play 9 holes with mini discs through a challenging course. (1 1/2 hours). Jessie makes this activity a lot of fun for any age to participate.
The Pipestem Nature Center is open from 12:30 until 4:30 p.m. Unless otherwise indicated, activities begin or are conducted at the nature center.
