Irish Road Bowling

October 25, 2019 @ 9:01 pm

Irish Road Bowling can be traced back to the 1600s. One story is that Dutch soldiers brought it when William of Orange came to Ireland in 1689. Another legend says that Irish patriots robbed English cannonballs and rolled them down a country lane by the light of a full moon. Faugh a Ballach!

Irish Road Bowling at Chief Logan State Park begins at 11:30 a.m., according to wvirishroadbowling.com. At 4,000-acre Chief Logan State Park with its outdoor amphitheater and wildlife exhibit, you can loft a bowl beneath the statue of Logan, famous Chief of the Cuyoga -Mingos, or in the footsteps of Aracoma, legendary Princess of the Shawnees. Lodging is available at Chief Logan Lodge 304-855-6100. For road bowling information, call Terry Mullins 304-855-8591, [email protected] or Chief Logan State Park at 304-792-7125.
