11:00 a.m. VERY FISHY
Learn the parts of a fish, fold an origami fish to take home, and feed the baby trout in our trout rearing pond. (YPP) Meet Park Naturalist in Old Pavilion.
2:00 p.m. NATURE CRAFT: DRAGONFLIES
Learn about these amazing fighter jets of the insect world and their many attributes. Color and put one together to take home. (YPP) Windy Gap Schoolyard/Old Pavilion if rainy.
4:00 p.m. TREE ID WALK
Meet naturalist on office porch for a short stroll around the building to learn a few of our many WV trees. Make a rubbing of your favorites. (YPP)

Learn to identify the only 2 venomous snakes in WV with authentic replicas of the Copperhead and Eastern Rattlesnake and learn how helpful all our reptiles can be. (YPP) Windy Gap Schoolyard

9:00 a.m. HIKE REVERIE TRAIL
Hike the Reverie Trail to Tecumseh Falls with naturalist Jane. (3 hours). Wear sturdy shoes, bring water & snack. Hiking stick or trek poles helpful. Meet on office porch before 9:00 a.m. to sign up.
3:00 p.m. INCREDIBLE JOURNEY
Become a water droplet as you traverse the water cycle on Planet Earth. How long will you get stuck in a glacier? Roll the dice to melt into the ocean & escape. (YPP) Windy Gap Yard
All naturalist programs are free of charge. YPP (Young People for Parks) encourages youth of ages 6 – 16 to go outdoors and explore nature in our state parks. Completion of three indicated YPP naturalist programs in one week at Holly River State Park earns a certificate and/or a patch.
Jane Birdsong is a Master Naturalist and is the summer naturalist at Holly River State Park.
