Holly River National Trails Day Hike

June 5, 2021

Celebrate National Trails Day on June 5th at Holly River State Park with a three-hour hike on the Tramontane Trail. Led by park naturalist Jane Birdsong, this trail hike will have a rest stop at the site of an old Swiss homestead settled in the 1870s where you can also explore and see one of the park’s oldest and largest trees. Bring lunch or snack and water; wear sturdy shoes.

Meet on Holly River office porch by 11:00 a.m. to start hiking. Hiking stick or poles are helpful as the trail is moderate to difficult terrain. Call Holly River State Park office at 304-493-6353 for updates or Saturday weather changes.

Since 1993, National Trails Day has been held annually, the first Saturday of June, to bring attention to our state’s and nation’s trails. It’s National Trails Day! at Holly River State Park.
