If you like rocks, gravel, sand, and really old things like meteors and fossils, meet Ken Ashton, a geologist with the West Virginia Geological & Economic Survey and find out the geology of the Mountain State. There will be an indoor geology presentation on Friday night at 7:00 p.m. discussing the geology of WV. A Saturday morning hike to view rock formations at Twin Falls begins at 10:00 a.m.
The 7:00 p.m. evening program is at Twin Falls State Park Lodge, Magnolia Room. There is no fee to attend, and the event is open to the public.
Attending the evening program to learn about geology of the Mountain State and also participating on the hike to look at geology and formations at Twin Falls earns each attendee a “Geology Rocks!” patch. This patch is one of six special patches to be earned when attending and participating in special interpretive programs.
Excellent for any age. Join us.
