Full Beaver Moon Hike at Cass
Hike by the light of a full moon at Cass, known as the Beaver Moon. The walk starts at 6:00 p.m. on November 20, 2021.
The name Beaver Moon coincided with the time to set beaver traps before the swamps froze, to ensure a supply of warm winter furs. Another interpretation suggests that the name Full Beaver Moon comes from the fact that the beavers are now actively preparing for winter. It is sometimes also referred to as the Frosty Moon.
This Full Moon Hike begins from the visitors center at Cass (to the left of the Company Store). The evening walk is about three miles round trip with a slight grade, but mostly flat walking. You’ll want to wear layers and dress warmly and wear closed-toe shoes or boots. The weather can be very chilly or wintry.
