The place to be for outdoor fun and nature is North Bend State Park. Activities on this Friday include:
10:00 a.m. Southern Railroad Trail Hike – Follow the old railroad grade that snakes its way along the North Fork of the Hughes River while learning about local wildlife and plant species. This trail brings you right through the “north bend” in the river that is the namesake for the park! A smooth trail for hikers of all skill levels. Meet at the River Run Campground Check in Station. (1 hour, 1 mile). YPP
12:00 p.m. Kickball Game – The age old game of gymnasiums and playgrounds, kickball is fun for folks of any age. Join us for a game and make sure to bring plenty of friends to round out our teams. We will meet at the Nature Center. (1 hour)
2:00 p.m. Sand Art – Take a break and use your imagination or stencils to create a beautiful work of art out of sand. Sketch out your picture, trace it with glue, and sprinkle it with sand. Voila, sand art! We will meet at the Nature Center. (1 hour)
4:00 p.m. Fishing Derby – Bring your pole, and we’ll supply the bait as you try your luck catching the Bluegill, Channel Catfish, and Bass that inhabit the River Run Pond. Anglers up to 14 years old are welcome to participate in this catch and release derby. We will meet at the pond by River Run Campground. (1 hour)
5:00–7:00 p.m. Nature Center Open – Come inside to enjoy arts and crafts and a chance to meet some of our wildlife friends. Take a look around and marvel at the mysteries of nature.
