First Day of Spring
March 20, 2021
Rise and Shine to greet the first day of spring at Blackwater Falls on March 20, 2021. Three unique activities to attend. Fee free and open to the public.
Join Park Naturalist Paulita Cousin at 6:00 a.m. at the bus overflow falls parking area near the park intersection. This is an early bird relaxed program in the open air to watch the sky as the sun rises on the first day of spring.
A 10:00 a.m. hike meets at the trailhead of the Davis Trail at the old petting zoo parking area. This interpretive walk is along sections of the Davis Trail, Stemwinder Trail and the Red Spruce Trail. You’ll enjoy a great hike and the conversation with the park naturalist along the way.
Sparrows! I Love Sparrows program begins at 1:00 p.m. at Blackwater Falls Nature Center. Learn about the different sparrows that you may see when visiting the park and in West Virginia. It is World Sparrow Day. This isn’t a hike but it is about 45 minutes of great information about our feathered friends.
