First Day Hike: Blackwater Falls

Take your first step into the New Year with a hike at Blackwater Falls State Park.
The Naturalist will be with you to embrace the new year on a brisk wintry walk. Hike will likely start at the Sled Run parking area and walk along Forest Road 18 and Lindy Point Trail to one of West Virginia’s most spectacular views.
We’ll set foot at 10:00 a.m. and pace ourselves. This hike is approximately 3 miles round-trip. Sturdy shoes/boots are required and please dress appropriately for weather conditions; it can be bitter cold but worth the effort.
Please, carry water and a snack. Plan to arrive 10 minutes prior to start time. Restrooms, beverages and food purchases are available in the Sled Run building. There is no charge to go on the hike. Participants receive a First Day Hike patch at completion.
