January 1, 2022 @ 10:00 am - 12:00 pm
First Day Hikes invite you outside for the beginning of a new year. Join Naturalist Jacob Jackson, NIA/CIG for a hike at Tygart Lake State Park.
Meet at Tygart Lake State Park Campground at 10:00 a.m. to get started. This year’s hike features the School Bus Loop Trail that is a two mile walk/hike. This trail is between the lodge area and Tygart dam with not a lot of steep terrain.
Please plan and dress accordingly for the weather. Jackson may ask for masks to be worn at the beginning of the hike during opening conversations. Young children should be accompanied by an adult. All ages welcomed.
No reservations required for this walk. Please, carry water and a snack. To learn more, email [email protected] Hikers receive a First Day Hike patch from the naturalist at the conclusion of the activity.
First Day Hikes are part of a nationwide initiative led by America’s State Parks to encourage people to get outdoors. On New Year’s Day, hundreds of free, guided hikes are planned in all 50 states. Kids and adults all across America will be participating in First Day Hikes, getting their hearts pumping and enjoying the beauty of a state park.
