First Day Hike at North Bend

January 1

A first day hike at North Bend State Park is the best way to start the 2021 year.

Meet naturalist Adam Wissner at Shelter 3 at 10:00 a.m. for a leisurely 1.6 mile out and back hike. We will hike for roughly an hour and discuss the many signs of nature and history along the way. Those that want to hike for the sake of hiking will have that option after introductions and a new year welcome.  The access trail to the North Bend Rail Trail is a perfect hike for all ages and skill levels.

Restrooms in the shelter area have been winterized.  North Bend Lodge and Restaurant is closed for renovations through late May into June, however, public restrooms at the lodge are available.

Be sure to dress for the winter weather, including layers and a good pair of closed toed shoes. Bringing water and a snack is suggested. Masks are asked to be worn when participants are in group conversation as well as when social distancing is not possible. All children must be accompanied by an adult.

Participants who complete this hike will receive a commemorative First Day Hike Patch.  For questions or concerns email Adam at [email protected].
