First Day Hike at Blackwater Falls
January 1, 2022 @ 10:30 am - 12:00 pm
Its a ‘Snowbird Hike’ on January 1, 2022 at Blackwater Falls State Park.
Kick off the New Year with a little brisk exercise and fun with Blackwater Falls park naturalist, Paulita Cousin. We begin our adventure along Pendleton Trace trail to Pendleton Point Overlook, then continue along Spudder Track and loop back to the Nature Center along the Gee Haw Trail Ski trail. Gather at the nature center at 10:30AM to get started.
There will be short snowbird interpretive stops, as well as, a surprise selfie photo opportunity along the way. We will hike about 1.5 miles and plan for 1½ hours. YPP.
Please, wear appropriate footwear and dress for the weather. Binoculars may be helpful to look at winter birds.
The Harold Walters Nature Center will be open a few minutes before and after hike for access to restrooms and water fountain. Please, call 304-259-5511 for updates and questions regarding the first day hike and other programming activities. Folks hiking with the naturalist received a First Day Hike patch.
