Hikers should meet at the office no later than 8:45am. Be sure to wear long pants and sturdy shoes\, and bring water and snacks. \n\n\n\nThe second hike is on the Cabin Trail and the Giles\, Fayette\, Kanawha Turnpike Trail. This is a moderate to challenging 3.5-mile hike along a historic path once followed by Booker T. Washington\, Mary Ingles and President Rutherford B. Hayes. DESCRIPTION:Join us at Pipestem Resort State Park to celebrate National Trails Day! National Trails Day is held annually on the first Saturday in June to celebrate trails across the U.S. This year the Naturalist team is joining up with Active Southern West Virginia to offer two hiking options along the Bluestone Turnpike Trail in the scenic Bluestone River Gorge. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nOption A: 2-mile interpretive hike – one mile out\, one mile back \n\n\n\nOption B: 4-mile hike – two miles out\, two miles back \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nBoth hikes meet on the deck of Mountain Creek Lodge. Allow 15 to 20 minutes for the tram ride down. A special tram coupon will be given to each participant at the end of the hikes. \n\n\n\nPlease dress for the weather\, wear sturdy footwear\, and bring water. DESCRIPTION:Join the Cedar Creek state park naturalist for 4 events in celebration of National Trails Day. \n\n\n\nStarting at 2pm\, join us for a Kids Hike. The hike will be along the creek\, starting at the cabin and going to the barn and back. Please bring shoes you don’t mind getting wet.  \n\n\n\nAt 4pm\, we’ll hike along the Fisherman’s Trail. Please sign up for the cabin. \n\n\n\nAt 8:30pm- 10pm\, we are doing a glow-in-the-dark night hike. Let’s listen to the sounds of Cedar Creek State Park at night. We will walk through the campground\, starting at the cabin\, then to the 3rd bathhouse\, and back. Glow sticks provided\, but please bring your own headlamp or flashlight. This is an easy 2-mile hike. \n\n\n\nPlease bring water\, snacks\, and comfortable shoes.
