Elk Management Evening Tour

The first elk tours in West Virginia are designed to learn about and visit where elk history begins again. Twenty dates are scheduled for 4-hour programs. These evening tours meet at 4:00 p.m. at Chief Logan Lodge. The tour ticket includes a sandwich and a bite to eat, ‘all about elk’ program, transportation to the elk translocation site, and outdoor time experiencing the terrain, vegetation and elk habitat.

The possibility of hearing or seeing an elk bull or cow is not guaranteed, but the opportunity to be on the first elk tours in West Virginia ever and receive a souvenir are part of the experience. Sunset at the tour site should be outstanding, in addition to looking and listening for elk and observation of other wildlife in the area. Some walking will be encouraged at the outdoor site for those interested. Lauren Cole, Naturalist/Biologist is the tour leader.

The cost is $30 per adult and $27 for youth under 15. An overnight package of $170 includes accommodation for two, dinner for two, and two elk tour tickets. Ticket or package prices include taxes, but not gratuity. The tour is limited to 13 participants. Advanced reservations are required and available by calling Chief Logan Lodge at 304-855-6100.
