Edible Mushrooms and Preparation

There are many species of edible mushrooms. Their ecology, season, tips for finding some of them, and the many dishes that can be made from them will be presented by John Plischke, III, one of Pennsylvania’s mushroom experts.
Learning the edible species is the focus of the 7:30 p.m. program at Blackwater Falls Nature Center.

Plischke has written two books, 2 digital books, edited and compiled 2 cookbooks and considered an identifier extraordinaire. He has written numerous articles, won over 90 national and regional photography awards, extremely active in North American Mycological Association. Active member of international mycology, he consults with mycologists all over the world.

An afternoon walk at 4:00 p.m. is planned with meeting located determined on Friday. The walk and evening program is open to the public and free to attend.
