Dining with the Blennerhassetts
Explore the role food played in the daily lives of the Blennerhassetts. Event concludes with a meal on the island cooked from historic recipes. Cost is $75 per person. Advance registration needed. Sign in starts at 2:15 p.m. Program begins at 2:45 at the Blennerhassett Museum with a food demo, Dressing Up Your 1800s Dinner Table. Then, take boat ride to the island for special foodways tour of the Blennerhassett Mansion, with highlights on dining customs and foods available. A three-course (appetizers, main course and dessert) 18th century candle-lit dinner will be served with entertainment at the Putnam-Houser House. Meal will be prepared by Chef Yancy Rouse. Program developed/conducted by food historians and authors Martha and Dick Hartley.
