Cardboard Boat Race
If it’s cardboard and it floats, you’re eligible to race. The Tygart Lake Cardboard Boat Race is open to participation for businesses, schools, youth groups, groups of friends and non-profit organizations desiring to build a boat to float. The maximum width allowed is 60 inches and maximum length of 7 feet, weight less than 200 pounds. Boats must be made before the race and constructed of cardboard with duct tape on seams only and carry 1-6 team members around a fixed course. Please email Race Director [email protected] to receive complete guidelines of approved materials that may be used, design requirements, crew conduct and safety procedures in the event the boat becomes a submarine.
Vessels should arrive by 3:00 p.m. at Tygart Lake Marina with Race starting at 3:30 p.m. Race Director [email protected] will email complete guidelines that include approved materials. Prior to race boats judged and awards given upon race conclusion.
