Cacapon Trees, Invasives and Hikes

Cacapon invites you to enjoy programs and experiences during your visit or stay. All planned activities begin at the Campfire Circle near the Nature Center unless noted**. Most programs are one hour in length and begin at the nature center or campfire circle. The activity flier is posted at the nature center.

10:30 a.m. WV Tree ID Walk
Lean to identify common WV trees on short walk. Craft of leaf pounding to follow. (1 hour)

1:00 p.m. Non-native Invasive Plants
Learn about how the park is taking on a variety of invasive plants: Oriental Bittersweet, Japanese Barberry and take a short hike to identify and see some of the park’s projects.

Nature Center 11:00 a.m. – 3:30 p.m.

10:00 a.m. Hike on the Laurel Trail
Take a hike with the park naturalist on this 2-mile trail and enjoy the mountain views along the way.

1:00 p.m. West Virginia Tree ID Walk
Learn how to identify common WV trees on this short walk around the picnic area.

Nature Center operations and programs are following recommended social distancing guidelines established by the Governor of 6’ apart and maximum gathering of 25. Programs will be first come, first served. Please wear masks when indoors. Let’s all have a fun & safe time together!
