Cacapon Outdoor Activities

When visiting Cacapon, enjoy these programs and experiences during your visit or stay. All programs and activities begin at the Campfire Circle near the Nature Center unless noted**. The Nature Center is typically open from 10:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m. daily. Most programs are one hour in length.

Saturday, July 4

  • 10:30 a.m. WV Wildlife & Molds
    Join us in learning about WV wildlife, looking at pelts, skulls, tracks & scat. Make a take-home mold of an animal of your choosing! (1 hour) YPP
  • 1 p.m. Patriotic Tie-Dye
    Join us at the Nature Center for a fun afternoon of tie-dying! Make this a State Park tradition & take home your own park tie-dye T-shirt! ***State Park T-shirts sold at Nature Center. $10.00 will cover T-shirt & dye.
  • 3 p.m. Beads and Bracelets
    Make a patriotic bracelet!!!
  • 7:30 p.m. Cacapon Campfire
    Meet at the campfire circle beside the Nature Center for a marshmallow roastin’ good time by the fire. You bring the marshmallows & we will provide the sticks.
  • 9 p.m. Glow Stick Walk!
    Let’s light up the night sky with glowsticks, bracelets, and necklaces!

Sunday, July 5

  • 9:30 a.m. WV Morning Melodies
    Meet at the Nature Center for a short hike. Let’s learn who is making all that noise! (1 hour) YPP
  • 11 a.m. Stream Study
    Discover what makes a stream healthy and what unlikely critters may be hiding in plain sight! Meet at Nature Center. You may want to bring shoes to get wet. (1 hour) YPP
  • 1 p.m. Berkeley Springs State Park Walking Tour
    Meet at the Park Gazebo to join the park naturalist on a stroll through the park and surrounding areas.
  • 1:30 p.m. Knot-Tying 101
    Learn how to tie three common knots followed by activity. YPP
  • 3 p.m. Ridge Trail Ramble
    Let’s take a hike and discover some what’s in bloom and take in a great view! YPP

Nature Center operations and programs are following recommended social distancing guidelines. Visitors are asked to stay six feet apart and gatherings are limited to 25. Programs will be first come, first served. Let’s all have a fun & safe summer together!
