Cacapon Mountain Overlook, Monarchs, & More

Saturday at a state park as autumn approaches is magical. Join us for these activities, open to any age and the public.
11:00 a.m. Cacapon Mountain Overlook is a spectacular view, the highest elevation in the eastern panhandle. If you’ve not visited the overlook, you’re missing a view of four states! Meet the Naturalist at Cacapon Mountain Overlook for a brief history of the park and to look for migrating hawks. This road is 4 miles beyond the Nature Center. (45 minutes)
1:00 p.m. Magnificent Monarchs is a march (aka a short hike) to Cacapon’s Pollinator Zones to view these amazing butterflies on their long journey to Mexico. Learn all about their life cycle and amazing journey.(1 hour)
3:00 p.m. WV Tree Challenge is a great program at the Nature Center. Learn some basic concepts on tree identification. Choose from a variety of ID books and correctly identify the flagged trees in this challenge. (45 minutes) YPP
There are hiking trails, riding stables and golf at Cacapon, plus a great restaurant and rocking chairs on the veranda to sit a spell and relax.
